Washington, D.C. (October 14, 2014) – Astrapi Corporation, an early-stage company pioneering the transition from periodic to non-periodic signal modulation, is pleased to announce the United States Patent and Trade Office has issued Astrapi U.S. Patent Application No: 13/447,641, “Methods and Systems for Communications”.
Spiral-based signal modulation is the correct way to approach non-periodic signal modulation. Non-periodic signal modulation has been proven mathematically to allow for dramatically higher spectral efficiency.
” With the issuance of this fundamental and very comprehensive Patent on Astrapi’s ground-breaking method of using non-periodic modulation as the new basis for telecommunications transmissions, Astrapi has furthered its position as the sole owner of all aspects of this Technology. Additional Patents to be issued in the near future will further round out Astrapi’s claims to the embodiments of this Technology. Astrapi looks forward to working with all of the various participants in the Telecommunications Industry to bring this Technology into everyday use.”, said Dennis Ahearn, Astrapi’s IP and licensing counsel.
Astrapi’s spiral-based signal modulation approach, Compound Channel Coding™ (cCc™), has profound implications for how the bandwidth crisis may be addressed by dramatically improving spectral efficiency and by systematically altering how telecommunications network operators send/receive signals. Demonstrated improvements will increase the value of spectrum and enable operators to meet exploding demand more economically than through expensive additional spectrum acquisition, infrastructure upgrades, or acquiring further transponder access.
Jerrold Prothero, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of Astrapi said, “We are very pleased that the USPTO has recognized the foundational nature of our innovation by granting us very broad patent protection. Our first patent, which issued last June, gave us ownership over any use of spirals for signal modulation. The patent which issued today extends our ownership to all viable ways of encoding information into spirals. Between these two patents, their extensive international filings, and others that are pending, Astrapi will own all rights to spiral-based signal modulation worldwide into the 2030’s. We can therefore directly address the bandwidth crisis, the central problem for the information economy, in a cost-effective way.”
ABOUT Astrapi Corporation
Astrapi is the leader in a revolutionary method of communication – spiral-based modulation, a game-changing force in communication technology. By applying new mathematics to signal modulation, Astrapi is able to improve the trade-off between the four fundamental parameters in communications: bandwidth, signal power, data throughput, and error rate. Based on foundational work by its founder, Dr. Jerrold Prothero, the company’s patented Compound Channel Coding™ (cCc™) technology allows for dramatic improvements in communication performance by smoothly integrating periodic and exponential signal parameters. For network owners, operators and end-users, the resulting efficiency translates into higher spectral performance with more bits available at a lower cost.
